As we embark on a journey through the Days of Awe, let us be thankful for all of the opportunities that we have received in the past year: the opportunity for friendship, the opportunity for love, and the opportunity to live each day.
No matter our own situation, we must remember that our world is imperfect. As disease continues to take away lives, as war and conflict destroy communities, and as people struggle to receive the basic necessities of life, we know that we must continue to work and to help.
There is no doubt that we will sometimes be troubled by the actions of ourselves or of others in the coming year; however, let us constantly be reminded of the nearly endless opportunities to correct actions, learn from mistakes, and repair relationships.
On this Rosh Hashanah, may the sound of the shofar awaken us towards a meaningful life and the ability to renew ourselves and the world around us.
